Jazmine Wilkinson Brings Her Talent Back Home!

OPSM is excited to announce Jazmine Wilkinson is coming back home. The Canadian born Texas A&M graduate is heading to Ottawa to compete in the inaugural season of the Northern Super League. The Ottawa Rapids have signed Wilkinson where she begins her professional career.

Jazmine recently joined the OPSM family with a clear goal: to take her career to the next level. In just under two months, she was able to fulfill her dream. Jeremy Sampson, OPSM’s Lead Agent of the Women’s Division immediately saw her potential.  “She is a dynamic attacking player who is excited about starting her professional career in Ottawa” says Jeremy. “She has many excellent qualities but what sets her apart is her drive to be successful and help her team be successful, the fans in Ottawa are going to love watching her play”.

Throughout Jazmine’s collegiate career, she has shown that she is ready to push on to the professional level. From earning Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors to becoming Texas A&M’s leading scorer, she has consistently shown her ability to perform at the pro level. She completed her NCAA career with 94 appearances, including 62 starts, and we believe her stats in the NSL will mirror the success she achieved in college.

When asked how her NCAA experience prepared her for the professional stage, Jazmine shared:

“My time in the NCAA prepared me for a lot of things. The style of play is very physical and fast paced which will only increase in the pros. Knowing how to manage your time and body is something else that will definitely help at the next level.”

Jazmine’s Journey to the pros is rooted in a strong foundation. She started her career with the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program and represented the Canadian Youth National Team. Playing with one of the best female programs in Canada, and it was with the Whitecaps FC where she was then selected to play at the U17 FIFA World Cup in 2018. This experience shaped her as a player and gave her a taste of what it takes to perform on the global stage.

As she prepares to compete in the NSL’s first ever inaugural season, Jazmine is embracing this full-circle moment with high expectations for herself and her team.

“My expectations are always high for myself on and off the pitch. Myself and many others have waited for an opportunity to play in Canada at this level so we will do whatever we can to help grow and make a name for the NSL community”.

With the season set to begin in April, Jazmine understands that success will come from hard work and dedication.  OPSM has seen her embody these qualities time and time again. Jazmine’s mindset, physicality, and commitment set her apart as a player who strives for greatness.

She shared her goal upcoming season:

“My goal in Ottawa this year is to win. My goal is to help grow the club by doing as much as I can in the community to give back and create a strong fan base in the city for women’s soccer”.

We are incredibly proud of Jazmine Wilkinson and can’t wait to see her excel with the Ottawa Rapids. Congratulations, Jazmine! We’ll be ready to grab our Ottawa Rapids jersey off the presses when the season kicks off.
